Success is measured by the obstacles which we have overcome to reach it. ~Booker T. Washington

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying, you don’t know what you don’t know, until you know. This is a harsh reality of many business leaders in the federal marketplace. Unfortunately, this concept can cost a lot of time and money and create a lot of unnecessary stress and heartache. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a strategy that includes a deeper understanding coupled with the readiness to succeed?

In our service of small and growing GovCons we hear of many “barriers to entry” that create a stalemate in your processes leading to contract award and successful execution. If it were only as simple as just showing everyone what you know how to do and having the contract awards flood in, but we know it’s not that easy. One of the biggest challenges facing business leaders is accessing the information they need to win the work they are best suited for, and having a strategy for how to fund your work through the inevitable ups and downs you will face.

Recently we did a poll of women-owned small businesses to see what the biggest struggles are that they face. What we found is that access to a consistent and reliable source of flexible and affordable capital is an underlying issue for this group. Some of this issue is compounded by the truth of what we said in the beginning of this blog: “you don’t know what you don’t know”.

In the current economic terrain, we find ourselves in, how things were and how they will be have changed drastically in the finance industry. The days of walking into your bank and getting a loan aren’t long gone (or may have never existed) but it certainly isn’t as easy as it once was. This has established a new need for alternative access to cash, which means you’ll need a new understanding of where to go, how it works, and how much it will cost because the standards are different for every lender.

We are looking to create a forum where you can ask questions, get answers, meet leaders who have been there and done that, and can share with you what worked and didn’t work for them.

If you are a growing GovCon and you are looking to learn more and grow your network, reach out to us and let us help you! Who and what we know just may be the missing piece to your puzzle!
