What better way to begin the fiscal year than with a big party?! Team Parabilis sponsored and attended the 1st annual Fiscal New Year’s Bash, hosted by the amazing Timberlakes (Go-to-Guy and his #1 gal, Maggie) and the American Small Business Coalition. It was held in the beautiful conference center in the offices of McGuireWoods in DC. From the outstanding views from the rooftop to the amazing lineup of all-star speakers, this event is sure to be talked about the whole year through!
As a special bonus, I was invited to attend the private happy hour in the beginning and chatted with as many people as I could. New business leaders, successful veteran entrepreneurs, academics, educators, and practitioners of the industry were all represented. I was especially impressed with the newer business owners who were there to soak it all in and learn from those who have journeyed that path a few steps ahead. There are no greater lessons learned than from those who understand your struggles from similar perspectives because they have walked in your shoes.
My proudest moment was hearing from a client of ours explain the level of care and service our CEO, Bruce Lyman, had extended to him in his time of need. It truly epitomizes the sincere ethos our company represents. We actually care about our community; we truly are your partner that will go the extra mile and help you with whatever your needs are, whether you are a client or not. Our team has learned how to do this because we are led by a team of men and women who have traversed that path, have learned some hard lessons, and genuinely want to share their triumphs and tragedies with you to help you be the best you can be to yourself, your family and your business. To say I was proud to listen to the testimony to all of this is an understatement.
Our Chairman of the Board, Dr. Edward Bersoff, has said, we can all do well if we start by doing good. From the top down, our leadership, and throughout our growing team, we are guided by this principle of doing good for others first. We treat the community and our network with the respect and honor they deserve as humans, as friends, as business partners, and as a part of the Parabilis family. There is nothing in my professional career more rewarding than knowing what I do can impact someone’s life for the better. Our entire team works to this level every day. And if we do nothing else than good for those around us, well that’s success to me!
I am grateful for the opportunity to share this amazing moment with my network. It was a great night that has set a positive tempo for the year ahead and reinvigorated my desire to help where I can. I can’t wait to continue to learn and grow and share with this amazing community we are locking arms with around our industry. I am happy to say I am even growing that network to include competitors who have now simply become my friends. It’s been an amazing year, and I am reveling in the joy you all have brought to my life! Happy fiscal New Year, and cheers to the best year yet!
