Last week our Growth team attended the National 8(a) Association Small Business conference in New Orleans. Of course, this is always an annual favorite, and we were proud to sponsor and have the opportunity to present in a panel discussion. This event never fails in providing outstanding networking among peers, access to quality information, interactions with large primes and government agencies, and the sharing of experiences that enhance the betterment of the community. If you are an 8(a) certified business, this and all of the National 8(a) Association events should be on your calendar!

The lineup of speakers were nothing short of all-star and included the SBA Administrator and several government agency representatives there to share best tips and practices for doing business with the federal government. This is vital in making the best of your time with this certification because you are meant to move on to next stage growth in the end and if you do not properly utilize the time you have your ability to do so will be limited. The National 8(a) Association strives to give you what you need to best utilize that time and be ready to move on in the best possible way.

Not to keep hammering this detail, but time is of the essence with your 8(a) certification. A conference with other 8(a) contractors puts you in the room with those that are soon to graduate. What does that mean for you? Once they graduate, their contracts will need another 8(a) certified company to take over….this could be you! Additionally, you can be making relationships with other 8(a) businesses for future teaming agreements or joint ventures, which can solidify access to opportunities that you may not get on your own.

I’ve said often that it is so important to find communities that provide you with the access to quality information and relationships that will offer you the best pathways to success. Events like this one are annual, very well-attended, and organized so that you can get the most out of the time spent there! On top of the amazing people I met, I had an awesome time! Maybe too good of a time because getting back to reality this week has been tougher than normal! I blame it on the amazing people, great food, and outstanding music that only NOLA can offer! I can’t wait to build some solid relationships with so many of you that attended our presentation or reached out to us during the week. We are immensely grateful for the successful conference with you all!

If you met us there, saw our discussion, or are looking to connect, reach out because we have an exciting year ahead filled with events and conferences and we will share our calendar with you! If you are still looking for your village, let us help you find it!
